Dentist By Trade, Artist By Passion
Fine Art by Kristi Glidewell
I spent 23 fulfilling years as a cosmetic dentist in Charlotte, NC, a career I absolutely loved. Unfortunately, the physical strain on my neck from long hours of looking down led me to an early retirement from dentistry. Leaving behind the practice I had built was truly heartbreaking.
However, the unexpected gift of free time introduced me to the world of oil painting, where I discovered a passion I never knew existed. While I miss the connections I had with my patients and the incredible dental team I worked with, painting provides a welcome outlet for creativity. It allows me to make beautiful art without the pressure of fatigue, anxious patients, or a tight schedule. The freedom oil painting offers is one I cherish—I can step away when needed and return to the canvas when inspiration calls.
Over the years, I've developed a deep love for painting flowers with oils. Much like dentistry, it involves a careful blend of artistry and fine detail. I’m drawn to the vibrant colors, rich textures, and endless possibilities of floral subjects—and let’s face it, flowers are simply beautiful!
What I particularly love about painted flowers is that they never fade or die. There's nothing more fulfilling than seeing one of my pieces bring a smile to someone’s face. While my technique may have changed, I’m still able to help people smile through my creativity.
Each of my pieces is named after the incredible women who support, encourage, and inspire me—my family and friends who have helped me navigate this exciting new chapter of my life. I am deeply grateful to my husband, children, my mother and all those who continue to cheer me on.
Thank you for your interest in my work. If you'd like to learn more or simply connect, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Cheers to flowers that never die!
